Every creature must hold an ecological or narrative role. The board establishes a shared reference for behavior, habitat, silhouette, and the signs a creature leaves behind; implementation remains separate production work.
PURPOSE / CATEGORIES
Ecology before inventory.
The reference spans mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, aquatics, insects and arachnids, and fantastical fauna. A category is useful only when its inhabitants contribute to the world’s relationships.
Behavior before decoration
Movement, feeding, shelter, avoidance, territorial pressure, and response to disturbance come before ornamental detail. A creature belongs when its behavior explains its presence.
Tracks & signs
Prints, fur, disturbed soil, feeding traces, calls, nests, and changed routes let the world testify before an animal enters the frame.
Observation
Reading those signs turns traversal into knowledge. The player can infer recency, direction, danger, and relationships rather than waiting for an encounter marker.
Production state
The production reference is established. Creature logic, animation, encounters, and evidence systems still require implementation and validation in the build.
